Political Experience

On my political experience I choose to go and sit in some court hearings. The reasons for these court hearings were: parent’s vocal acceptance of their court order. It was very interesting to see that even though these things are suppose to seem privet they are not. There was about a total of ten families there, and most of their case plans seemed to be the same.
The reason why I choose to participate in the court hearings is because I enjoy watching court hearing on the television. Sadly the court hearings that I attended were nothing like the court hearings on the television.
When you first walk into the Bartow court house you have to stand in line and go through a puffer machine. This thing puffs air all around you. Then you have to go through security, so they can check your purse and you body for anything that can harm or hurt anyone.
We then walked over to the elevators and went to the fourth floor; this is where they hear family cases. The person that I went with was actually part of some of the cases. She works for the DCF and had to stand up there and represent them. She does court hearings about once or twice a week.
To become a citizen you either need to be born a citizen or become one by naturalization. To become a citizen by naturalization you need to be able to know how our country works and a lot of background history on our country. To be naturalized you will need to complete and application form. Then you will be finger printed, then tested and interviewed. Once you are done with all of those things you can take the oath and become a citizen of the United States. This whole process can take as long as five months to two years. But it is worth it to be a citizen of the United States because then you have rights and protection under the constitution and this is something that many people who become naturalized want.
My experience ties to citizenship because when you are older you have to serve on a jury. While I was not on a jury, I still sat in the court room and listened to people’s cases. This is something that every citizen has the right to do and I got to express my right to do it with my political experience.
I think that the political experience that I had was a good one. It was very fun at first because I got to sit in on something new, but towards the end it got a little boring because of its redundancy. I did think that it was cool to be in a court room with an actual judge though, and hopefully I will be able to do it again sometime.
